After graduating from the University of Alberta, Canada in 2002, Greg immediately came to Japan on the Japanese Exchange Program (JET). He spent three years at Katagiri High School in Nara and later moved to Kyoto and pursue Japanese cultural and language studies at Ritsumeikan University. Greg then began a career at the Hyatt Regency Kyoto.
During his time at the Hyatt, he worked as a front receptionist, bell-desk captain, and concierge. Through hard work and help from colleagues, Greg managed to win the Hystar, a designation that recognizes an employee’s level of service based on comments by guests and managers.
Greg is made his tour guide debut with Walk Japan in March 2011. He can usually be found strolling the back streets of Kyoto looking for new and interesting places. It is said you may also see him flying by on his bicycle, since he rarely goes anywhere without it.
